Guided visits arranged for youAkrotiri is one of the most important prehistoric settlements of the Aegean. Excavations have revealed a Bronze Age town linked to Minoan civilisation through Linear A inscriptions and closely related frescoes and artefacts.
Ancient Thira, the island’s classical city, sits on Mesa Vouno, 396 metres above the sea. It was founded in the 9th century BC by Dorian colonists led by Theras and was inhabited until the early Byzantine period.
Our Guest Experience Specialists can arrange a guided visit to both.
